Some History
The initiative to found an Â鶹´«Ã½AV Chapter on Information Theory in the Benelux came from Edward C. van der Meulen, who had also been active in establishing the "Werkgemeenschap voor Informatie- en Communicatietheorie" in the early eighties. The Chapter is active since 1990. Edward served as the first Chairman of the Chapter.
Activities
Since 1990 the Chapter co-organizes, jointly with the Werkgemeenschap voor Informatie- en Communicatietheorie (WIC), an annual Symposium on Information Theory in the Benelux and an annual Midwinter-Meeting with tutorial presentations on a hot topic. Apart from that, the Chapter organizes other activities. In 2009 it started a series of Van der Meulen Seminars.
